A tour operator emerges
The turoperation activity begins in Murcia, the founder’s home town.
1986
Setting up shop in Mallorca
The group establishes its headquarters in Palma de Mallorca.
1991
Hoteles Piñero
The hotel activity starts in the Balearic Islands with the Hoteles Piñero brand.
1992
Expansion of Soltour
Branches are opened throughout the whole national territory of Spain and Portugal to start marketing its products.
1995
Opening of the first hotel in the Dominican Republic
The Bahia Escondida Club is born and the first hotel is opened in San Juan, Dominican Republic.
1997
Creation of Solbus
Business dedicated to transporting tourists and employees in the Dominican Republic.
1998
Creation of Embat
Launch of the Embat brand, focused on maritime transportation of clients in the Dominican Republic. The initial focus is on excursions.
1999
Opening of the first hotel in Mexico
Bahia Principe Tulum opens in Akumal, Mexico.
1999
Birth of the Eco-Bahia Foundation
Created in Mexico to develop actions for the environmental conservation of native flora and fauna.
2000
Launch of the TV show “Paraíso”
The series aired on Spanish state television (TVE) and was produced entirely at our Bahia Principe San Juan hotel in the Dominican Republic.
2001
Opening of the first hotel in Tenerife
The Bahia Principe Costa Adeje hotel opens its doors in southern Tenerife. It is the chain’s first resort in Spain.
2006
Start of the hotel expansion that would culminate in 2006.
Opening of several of the chain’s hotels in Punta Cana, Riviera Maya, Samana, Jamaica and Tenerife North.

Creation of the Residential & Golf division
Start of commercial activity for the Bahia Principe Residential & Golf division, which comprises residential complexes and golf courses in the Caribbean.

Opening of the Bahia Principe Grand La Romana hotel
First hotel in this area of the Dominican Republic, located next to its own residential development and golf course.
2008
Creation of the Scubaquatic brand
Business that provides diving experiences for guests staying at Bahia Principe hotels.
2010
Inauguration of the Riviera Maya Golf Club
Designed by Robert Trent Jones II. It’s the Group’s first golf course in Mexico.

Brand dedicated to incoming services for the clients of Soltour, Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts and other hotels and tour operators.
